Hosted by Coastal Stay. Welcome to “The Boardman Loft” a one-of-a-kind 4 Bedroom 2 Bath multi-use building with some local history in the heart of Traverse City’s NOBO District (North of Boardman). This newly renovated space has an open concept commercial kitchen, dining, and multiple level living spaces.

This historic building, once home to the Traverse City Cigar Box Company built in 1920, has been thoughtfully renovated over the years to preserve its original character and charm, featuring salvaged 1920s wood flooring and eclectic décor that beautifully blend its storied past with modern style.

It is perfect for families, groups, or business travelers looking to stay close to all Traverse City has to offer as all is within easy walking distance! The 4000 Sq. feet of space can comfortably sleep 8 and allows you full access to the gym and courtyard amenities!

We are Pet-friendly! Pet fee is $200.00 per stay. A maximum of 2 dogs 50 lbs each are allowed. Please let us know if you are bringing a fur friend so that we may get your pet amenities prepared for your arrival. We try our best to keep hair and allergens away, but guests with dog sensitivities should be aware. Please use our provided sofa cover and 'retired' towels for your fur friends. Booking guests will be responsible for any pet damage.

The Boardman Loft is located within “The Box” right on the corner of Boardman and Eighth. Guests will enjoy full access to shared building amenities, including:

  • The private gym ”The Well” (basement level)
  • A courtyard with fire pit, BBQ grill, and seating
  • Optional Barrel Sauna (fee applies, see below)

Please note: The building is multi-use and houses a co-working office space (upstairs) (not available for guest use) and a wellness center (downstairs). You may occasionally hear noise during office hours (8 AM–5 PM).

Due to the mixed use of this building, we request that noise be kept to a reasonable level between the hours of (8 AM–5 PM) Monday-Friday to not disturb the neighboring offices. We appreciate your cooperation. Quiet hours are observed after 10pm, and no unauthorized parties are allowed to ensure a peaceful neighborhood setting.

Master Suite – King bed, sitting area, ensuite bathroom with soaking tub & walk-in shower.

Bedroom 2 & 3 – King beds, open-concept layout, please note these two bedrooms have high (partial) walls that do not reach the industrial height ceiling.

Bedroom 4 – Bunk bed (2 twins) + small play area (Pack & Play provided).

The living room includes a sectional sofa, allowing the home to comfortably accommodate up to 8 adults and/or an infant, a rare commodity in the middle of Traverse City.

There are 2 full bathrooms featuring high-end finishes and stocked essentials!

Main Bathroom: Granite vanity, full tub/shower combo. Located down the hallway just off the open living and dining room area.

Master Ensuite: Soaking tub, large walk-in shower, dual facing sinks in an open wood and granite vanity, and storage area separate from the shower and toilet — designed for relaxation and convenience.

The massive chef’s kitchen and dining space was designed for entertaining. Highlights include:

  • Granite countertops & stainless-steel appliances
  • Deep industrial sinks & dishwasher
  • Microwave, crock pot, blender, cookware, and utensils
  • Coffee/tea bar with drip coffee station
  • Children’s dinnerware, utensils, and high chair

A small sitting area beside the kitchen overlooks the courtyard where you can enjoy the view or BBQ on the patio, while the dining and living areas flow seamlessly together as the kitchen opens into these spaces. The twin bedroom is conveniently located off the kitchen — ideal for families with little ones.

☆☆ LIVING ROOM ☆☆
You will find the interior retains much of its original charm, mixed with elegant custom cabinetry and décor throughout. The living area is thoughtfully decorated, spacious, and equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a large collection of over 500 books and plenty of places to cozy up and explore them.

The loft offers three unique living areas designed for relaxation and connection:

  • Reading Nook: Raised platform surrounded by large windows and comfy seating — perfect for morning coffee or a good book.
  • Lounge Area: Cozy gathering space with Smart TV and electric fireplace.
  • Main Living Area: Large Smart TV, built-in bookshelves, and spacious sectional sofa. Perfect for cozying up and watching movies!

You’ll also find a collection of board games, kids’ toys, and books, plus a full-sized washer/dryer in a separate laundry nook off the hallway.

☆☆ OUTDOOR & BUILDING SPACES☆☆
Outside, you will have full access to the building’s private courtyard (a shared space) which features a gas fire pit and grill along with several artistic touches which add to the historic vibe including a fountain and seating areas.

This unit also features a patio area off of the kitchen and has a BBQ available for your use. The Well (basement level) also features a gym available for guest use.

☆☆ SAUNA ACCESS ☆☆
Reserve time in the Box Barrel Sauna, located in the northeast corner of the courtyard. To reserve, text the building manager (contact info provided after booking). The sauna operates remotely and must be scheduled in advance.

• 30 minutes – $30
• 45 minutes – $45

Available daily from 8 AM to 9 PM. Payment is required prior to use.
Maximum capacity: 4 guests. Please bring your own towel.
Limited access to changing rooms and showers in the lower level of the main building is available upon request.

2 Dedicated parking spaces for our guests marked in front of the large garage door. Additional free guest parking available ONLY during the weekend - East of the building in the BOX parking space.

There is also a garage that could be made available for an additional charge. EV charging is currently under repair

We understand that sometimes small accidents happen while traveling. That’s why your booking includes a $250 accidental damage waiver, built directly into your stay.

If something minor gets damaged during your visit, please let us know right away. We’ll take care of it so you can relax and enjoy your trip.

Please note: The waiver applies to accidental damage only and does not cover intentional damage, missing items, rule violations, or excessive mess.

Really unique place, loved the large glass dinning table and long island in the kitchen, perfect for hosting large 10 person gathering.

Terrific place. Plenty of room to spread out. Great community area, such as kitchen, family room, sitting room and great view of both corners with full windows. Location is perfect, close enough to the main street but far enough away to have privacy. Backyard was a home run with grassy area and chairs to enjoy the late summer nights. We had three generations staying at the house for pre-wedding festivities (6 in total). Couldn’t have found a better place. Was overly concerned with only two bathrooms, but in the end, made it work and with all the other amenities, would do it again the same way. Thanks to the great host.

We had a truly great stay! The space is exceptionally unique, very walkable to downtown, and provided more than enough space for our large group. The amenities for the kids are a thoughtful touch. Thanks for a great stay, we will be returning!
